A veteran of the U. S. Army Jim Trent, 73, began his earthly life on Nov. 6, 1934, in Pondfork, Mo., with parents Audie and Ocie Almeda “Medie” Duckworth Trent. He began his heavenly life Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at his home in Brighton, surrounded by his loving family.
After Jim returned from serving in the U.S. Army he married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Robertson, on Jan. 1, 1956, and this union was blessed with four children. They later moved to California where Jim was foreman for the Sherman Thomas Ranch for many years. He loved working on the farm, whether in Ozark County or California. They returned to the Ozarks where Jim worked for Frank Lyons Co. After years of hard work, he was able to retire and have time for his favorite activity, his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Medie Trent; four brothers, Paul, Roland, Vaughn and Frank Trent.
Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann, of the home; two sons, Randal James Trent and Nicholas Shane (Jackie) Trent; two daughters, Iris Ann Trent and Sarah Skopec; nine grandchildren, Brandi Satterfield, and Caleb, Ryan, Seth, Kathyrn and Kyle Skopec; one great-granddaughter, Allie Satterfield; and two sisters, Ava Stehle and Verna Wolf. He will also be deeply missed by a host of friends and other relatives.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m., in the Thornfield Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating, with full military honors. All arrangements were under the direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
