A 1961 Ava High graduate Violet Lee Hartley, daughter of Arthur Daniel and Eula (Watson) Daniel, was born on Oct. 25, 1943, in Wasola, and passed away on Dec. 7, 2007, in Springfield, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 12 days.
“Vi” was a resident of the Ava community for the past 15 years. She was a 1961 Ava High graduate and worked as an office secretary and a waitress. She was a member of the Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Wasola.
Vi enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating and designing jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Lou.
She is survived by one son, William “Bill” Stratton Jr.; one sister, Ruth Barrymore, New York; two brothers, Garvin and M.J. Daniel, both of Missouri; a special friend, Larry Morrison; and other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery.
