Of Springfield Barbara Ann (Ladd) Gates, 79, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on July 20, 1928 in North Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of Alan Douglas Ladd and Edith Emma (Eby) Ladd.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Franklin Gates; one granddaughter, Deanna Owens; and one grandson, Matthew Cook.
She is survived by one sister and three brothers, Shirley Crampton, of Tallahassee, Fla., Doug Ladd, Yuma, Ariz., Jack Ladd, Clermont, Fla., and Merle Ladd, Tallahassee, Fla. She is also survived by her six daughters and two sons, Cheryl (Gates) Bohannan, Crocker, Terry Gates, Hartville, Carol (Gates) Owens, Mansfield, Marcia (Gates) Dunn, Lebanon, Janis (Gates) Goodman, Sparta, Patricia (Gates) Redden, Springfield, Nancy (Gates) Crawford, Springfield, and John Gates, Lebanon; 28 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Springfield, at 1 p.m. on Dec.10. An online memorial may be signed at www.walnutlawn funeralhome.com.
