Bobby Joe Miller, 77

Owned and operated his barbershop for 40 years Bobby Joe Miller, the son of Hermie Miller and Angie (Workman) Miller, was born July 22, 1930, in Silverton, Mo., and departed this life Nov. 6, 2007, in Springfield, at the age of 77 years 3 months and 14 days.

Joe was a life long resident of the Ava area. He owned and operated his own barbershop for 40 years.

In 1949 Joe and Patty Wood were united in marriage and to this union three sons were born. Joe was a member of the Baptist faith and also a 50-year 32nd-degree member of the Robert Burns Masonic Lodge #496 in Rockbridge. He was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rockbridge Chapter.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Retha and Wanda.

He is survived by his sons and their spouses, David and Sally Miller, Ava, Bob and Jeanie Miller, Bella Vista, Ark., and Jon Miller, Ava; seven grandchildren, Bobbie Jean, Justin, Elisha, Chelsea, Lynsey, Paige and Jesse; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Miller, Ava; a special friend, Martha Luce; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. A Masonic service will also be held. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola.
