Wilma Pauline Fletcher, 84

A life long resident of the Ava area Wilma Pauline Fletcher the daughter of Estel (Tobe) Foster and Sadie (Duren) Foster, was born July 13, 1923 in Mt. Zion community, in Douglas County, and departed this life Oct. 19, 2007 at the age of 84 years, 3 months, 6 days.

Pauline was a life long resident of the Ava area. She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. On Dec. 18, 1941 Pauline and Warren Fletcher were united in marriage in Erie Kan.

Pauline and Warren were blessed with three children.

Pauline attended the First General Baptist Church and later Gentry Church. She went to Casto Grade School as a girl and on to Ava High School. Pauline loved George Jones’ singing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and traveling. She always had a clean house, was a wonderful cook and loved fried chicken. She was active with the Democrat party, and faithfully, every Friday at 12 went to Rose Zella’s Beauty Shop.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Clifton, a sister, Rita Foster, and a grandson, Danny Lee Fletcher.

Pauline is survived by two daughters and spouses, Beverly and Narvil Tetrick, and Glenda and Charlie Miller, all of Ava; one son, Butch Fletcher, Staunton, Ill.; six grandchildren, Tammy and Wayne Merrifield, Teresa and Kim Vaverka, Douglas and Shelia Miller, Steven and Vickie Miller, Melissa and Derek Vickery, and Melinda Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Casey Merrifield, Corey Merrifield, Stephanie and Jason Slone, Lacie and Ryan Beard, Josie Vaverka, Sadie Ann Vaverka, Amber Miller, Dylan Miller, Kolton Davis, and Kaitlin Vickery; four great-great-grandchildren, Haley Beard, Born Dec 18, 2002, which was Warren and Pauline’s 61st anniversary, Jackson Lee Beard, Makayla and Taegan Slone; a sister, Norma Tetrick, Fairfax, Mo.; and a special friend, Bob Levey.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. David Dodson and B.J. Evans officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery.
