He spent 20 years in the United States Air Force Retired Staff Sergeant Freddie Lee Barlett, son of Wilburn Oscar Barlett and Nancy Meg Nola Newberry, was born Nov. 28, 1933 near Girdner, in Douglas County. He departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in his home, in Macomb, at the age of 73 years, 10 months, and 19 days.
On Sept. 10, 1954 he was united in marriage to Joyce Elaine Cline, and to this union five children were born.
Freddie spent 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired in 1974. He loved working in the timber and after retiring he built cedar jewelry chests.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Dalton, David, Billy, Luther, Pat, and Bob Barlett; and two sisters, Anna Carr, and Dottie Paschal.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joyce, of the home; two sons, Rick Barlett, of Ava, and Randy Barlett, of Macomb; three daughters, Cindy Morrow, of Houston, Janie Garrison, of Hollister, and Tammara Rawlings, of Macomb; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorene Hicks, of Norwood, Pauline Turley, of Mansfield, and Zola McInis, of the state of South Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Mansfield Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Hicks officiating. Interment was under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield.
