A resident of Souder for most of her life Elzada Norene Souder, daughter of Lawson Clayborn Curtis and Theda (Arnett) Curtis, was born July 27, 1927, in Douglas County, and departed this life Oct. 22, 2007, at the age of 80 years 2 months and 25 days.
Elzada was a resident of Souder, Missouri for most of her life and was a resident of Ava, for the past two years, living in Redbud Village. On Jan. 7, 1945, Elzada and Almond Alton Souder were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark. Elzada and Almond were blessed with four children.
Elzada was employed as a housekeeper for Rockbridge Rainbow Trout Ranch for 25 years. She loved taking walks with her grandchildren. Elzada also enjoyed gardening, painting, cooking and her cats. Elzada was a member of Souder Church of Christ.
Elzada was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, her husband, Almond in l984, and a grandson, Jeremy Todd.
She is survived by four sons and spouses, Gerald Souder and Linda, Felton, Ga., Earl Souder and Sylvia, Wasola, Charles “Todd” Souder and Connie, Souder, and Dennis Souder and Deniece, Ava; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Harp, Bolivar, MO, Jean Bell, Mtn. Grove, Mo, two brothers, Russell Curtis and E.J. Curtis, both of Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 25) in the Souder Church of Christ with E.J. Hampton officiating.
Interment will follow in the Souder Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
