A resident of Brushyknob community for many years Rita Pauline Hicks, daughter of Cecil Roscoe Duren and Luceil Belle (James) Duren, was born on Oct. 26, 1952, in Gainesville, and passed away to her heavenly home on Oct. 12, 2007, in Macomb, with her family by her side.
Rita was a resident of Brushyknob community for many years. On Nov. 26, 1970, Rita and Larry Leon Hicks were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union four children were born. Rita owned and operated with her husband, the Hicks Custom Processing Co. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Barren Fork and later attended the Mtn. Grove Church of Christ. Rita enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening and building things. She loved and adored her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Roscoe Duren.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home in Macomb; four children and their spouses, Joseph and Marie Hicks, Mtn. Grove, Bethany and Kirk Hall, Bentonville, Ark., Hanna and Timothy Pippin, Columbia, and Jeremiah and Bridget Hicks, Macomb; her mother, Luceil Belle Duren, Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Tommy Joe, Josh, Cody, Aaron, Luke, Colette, Levi and Wyatt; one brother, Donnie Duren, Kansas City, Kan.; her in-laws, Edgar and Minnie Hicks, Ava; two uncles, Vernon and Hubert James; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at Oak Forest Cemetery, Norwood, with Harlin Howerton officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Online condolences may be made to www.clinkingbeardfuneral home.com.
