Clifford R. Ritter, 75

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and music Clifford R. Ritter, 75, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or the Lewy Body Association, P.O. Box 451429 Atlanta, Ga. 31145.

Cliff was born April 12, 1932 in Ava, the son of Charles and Blanche (Hutches) Ritter. He was united in marriage to Rozema “Rosie” Strong on Aug. 14, 1954, in Ava.

Cliff retired in 1996 after several years as a truck driver for the former BFI Waste Management service of Pleasant Valley, Iowa. In earlier years, he had been employed with Iowana Dairy Farms until 1973.

Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Music, particularly gospel music, was an important part of his life and he sang with a local gospel quartet, the Country Christians, for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife of 53 years, Rosie; his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dan Hoover, of Bettendorf; his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Monica Ritter, of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Richard (Christine) Hoover, of Davenport, Michael Hoover, of Irvine, Texas, and Melissa Hoover, Benjamin Gheer, Amanda Ritter, Vanessa Ritter, Robby Washam, and Franki Ritter, all of Bettendorf; his sister, Stella Miller, of Ava; his brother, Bob Ritter, of Bettendorf; and several nieces and nephews.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lester and Alva; and his sister, Freida.
