A loving and generous person Elizabeth “Sally” B. Tharp departed this life in her home in Ava on Sept. 11, 2007 at the age of 81.
She was born in Gary, Ind. to Mike D. Bodlovich and Diane (DeJanovich) Bodolovich on Aug. 20, 1926. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend. Sally’s faith was Serbian Orthodox.
In 1945, Elizabeth and John Hiram Tharp Jr. were married in Chicago, Ill. To this union two sons were born.
Sally was a registered nurse for many years in Tulsa, Okla. She was director of nursing at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. After retiring In Ava, she and her husband, Jack, traveled to many places around the globe. While living in Springfield, she earned her bachelor of nursing degree at Drury University. She loved putting her talents to work for Drury, assisting with their senior programs, and mentoring young students.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; and several beloved relatives.
She is survived by her two sons, Christopher Tharp and his wife, Carol, and Clayton Tharp, all of Ava. Her family, friends, and neighbors will miss her loving and generous nature. She loved bunnies and small children.
