Jim moved to Ava in 2005 Harry J. (Jim) Reed was born July 22, 1946, in Moline, Ill., to Clark Henry and Judith Mildred Johnson Reed. He departed this life Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at his home near Ava.
Jim moved to Ava after retiring as a building inspector in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., in 2005.
Jim enjoyed every day of his life because it gave him the opportunity to meet people. Since moving to Ava he had enjoyed getting to meet new friends. He had never met a stranger. Children knew he was their special friend. He was interested in many things from cooking to cars, especially hot rods. He had attended Girdner Church since coming to Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darrell Vernon Reed.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Janell, and a brother, William (Bill) Reed. He will be missed by his special friends and caregivers Regina and Dennis Porter, as well as many other friends and neighbors.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Ava Family Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
