A life long resident of the area Thelma Lucy Marie Warford, the daughter of Thomas F. Ardell Boatman and Mary (Jones) Boatman, was born April 15, 1921 in Calico Rock, Ark. She departed this life Aug. 14, 2007 at the age of 86.
Thelma was a life long resident of the area. Thelma and Clarence Warford were united in marriage Dec. 11, 1937 in Ava. They were blessed with eight children. Clarence preceded Thelma in death in October 1990.
She was an avid gardener and cook and loved the outdoors. Thelma adored her children and grandchildren and was a good Christian.
Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents; four children, Fay Warford, Marjorie Amos, Shirley Ann Warford and Larry Warford; four brothers, Bill, Thurman, Joe and Jack Boatman; three sisters, Rener Sexton, Elmeth Offord and Nancy Woods; two grandchildren, Tozy Munoz and Wade Davis; and one great-grandchild, Chad Davis.
Thelma is survived by four children, Linda Kaberline, Nancy Deever, Billy Ray Warford all of Ava, and Sherman Warford, Lansing, Kan.; 29 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Lorine Van Winkle, Batesville, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. John Henry VanWinkle officiating. Interment will follow in the Stillings Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
