A life-long resident of the Ava area Helen Mae Hodges, the daughter of George Switzer and Maud (Herrell) Switzer, was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Douglas County, and departed this life Aug. 12, 2007 at the age of 91.
Helen was life-long resident of the Ava area. On Feb. 11, 194l Helen and Harold Hodges were united in marriage in Yellville, Ark. They were blessed with a daughter, Lena. Helen was em¬ployed with Rawlings Sporting Goods as a seamstress before her retirement. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Thelma Jarman and Clair Lakey, and her husband, Harold.
Helen is survived by her daugh¬ter, Lena F. Sexton and her hus¬band, Don, Phillipsburg; two grandchildren, Tim Sexton and his wife, Keri, and Angie Bryant and her husband, Lucas; one step-grand-daughter, Denise McCul¬loch; and five great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Mt. Tabor Church with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.
