Elga Wilkinson, 78

Born April 23, 1929, at Squires Elga Wilkinson, 78, passed away July 9, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson, Kan.

He was born April 23, 1929, at Squires, the son of John and Emily Plum Wilkinson.

On Sept. 18, 1976, he was married at Great Bend, Kan., to Eleanor C. Churchill, who survives.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Stone Sand, Venture and later worked for E-pox-Poly retiring in 1994.

He was a resident of Great Bend, Kan., since 1953, moving from Squires. He was a talented singer and guitarist, and enjoyed writing poetry.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; four sons, Steve Wilkinson and wife, Sharon, Hoisington, Kan., Scott Wilkinson and wife, Maxine, Great Bend, Kan., John Wilkinson, Hutchinson, Kan., and Richard Wilkinson, Garden City, Kan.; one step-son, Jim Churchill and wife, Rojean, Woodward, Okla.; three daughters, Diane Ramos, Teresa Hannaford and husband, Dennis, and Kimberly Mendez and husband, Juan, all of Great Bend, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Linda Renfro and husband, Willard, and Cheryl Muth and husband, Jim, all of Great Bend, Kan.; three sisters, Retha Trent, Squires, Gladys Turner, Kansas City, and Myrtle Hanoch, Midland, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Grant Renfro.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Thursday, July 12), at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kan., with the Rev. Don Paden officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend, Kan.
