A resident of Norwood Blaine Heard, the son of James Heard and Maude Anderson Heard, was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Cold Springs, Mo., and departed this life July 10, 2007 at the age of 89.
Blaine was a resident of Norwood for most of his life. He was employed as a truck driver before his retirement. Blaine and Gertrude Irene Harvey were united in marriage on Feb. 11, 1937 in Evans.
Blaine was a member of the Brushy Knob Church and was a deacon for 57 years. Blaine loved fishing and watching Cardinals baseball. He loved spending time with his family.
Blaine was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers, one son, Bernard, one infant daughter, and his wife, Gertrude.
He is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Donna Smith and Jerry, Rogersville, and Sherry Huff and Randy, Sparta; five grandchildren, Debra Heard, Rene McClure, Greg Heard, Dewayne Huff and Christi Dockum; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lizetta Roy, Harrisonville, and Wava Kelley, Norwood; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Blaine will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oscar Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in the Brushy Knob Cemetery.
