An avid hunter and fisherman Richard Dean Chapman, 41, Rogersville, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
He was born April 30, 1966, in Houston, Texas, the son of Richard D. and Rosalie Dee Ann (Hutchison) Chapman. He was united in marriage on Feb. 22, 1986, in Springville, Calif., to Denicia L. Hicks.
Richard was a correctional officer with the Ozark Correctional Center near Fordland where he was a member and helped found the OCC Dog Team and was leader of the Emergency Squad. He enjoyed camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Denicia; two daughters, Heather and Hailey Chapman, of the home; his parents, Richard and Dee Chapman, Morro Bay, Calif.; two brothers, Marvin Brooks Chapman and his wife, Margie, and Chris Chapman and his wife, Pattie, all of Springfield, Ore.; a sister, Pam DeNicholas and her husband, Jason, Los Oso, Calif.; his father- and mother-in-law, Lonnie and Deanna Hicks, Vanzant; two brothers-in-law, William Dan Hicks, Fordland, and Brian Hicks, Vanzant; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville, Burial was at 2 p.m. in Henderson Cemetery east of Gentryville.
A special trust fund is being established at the Citizen’s Bank of Rogersville for Richard’s girls.
