Evalyn Mace, 79

Born Nov. 27, 1927 in Hammond, Mo. Evalyn Mace, daughter of Alfred and Chlora (Buhler) Duggan, was born Nov. 27, 1927 in Hammond, Mo. She departed this life Thursday, June 28, 2007, in her residence in Squires, at the age of 79.

On Sept. 29, 1945, Evalyn was united in marriage to James Mace and to this union four daughters were born. Together they shared 48 years until James’ passing on Feb. 15, 1994.

Evalyn was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Genevee Fry and Margie Webb; as well as two grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Deloris Dougherty and her husband, Henry, of Forsyth, Joyce Coonts and her husband, Jack, of Norwood, and Alfreda Barlett and Janice Hall, both of Ava; six grandchildren, Letha Stamper, Scottie Plumb, Aundria Reynolds, Torie Ayers, Cody Hall and Nichole Barlett; seven great-grandchildren, Leslie Stamper, Hidie Jo Ayers, Auto Ayers, Dustie Plumb, Joey Plumb, Jake Plumb and Marissa Reynolds; several step-grandchildren as well as several step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leona Ward, of Mountain Grove, Clara Jones, of Mansfield, and Louise Box, of Hartville; one brother, Marvin Duggan, of Buffalo; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.

Evalyn was born in Hammond, but spent most of her life in the Mansfield area.

Evalyn was a devoted wife and mother. She attended the Assembly of God Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, gardening and fishing. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield, with the Rev. Ron Felker officiating. Burial was in Hensley Cemetery, Mansfield.
