Born on June 25, 1908, in Ava Bernice Coon, 98, passed away on June 23, 2007, at the Rehab Center of Independence.
A visitation was held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service followed at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bernice was born on June 25, 1908, in Ava. She was a longtime member of the Belvidere Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elwood Coon; one daughter, Vayda LaRose; and one son, Wayne Coon.
Her survivors include her daughter, Bonnie Beth, of Independence; granddaughters, Marsha Phillips, Blue Springs, and Cathy Dennis, Kansas City; one grandson, Steve Coon; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of friends and other family members.
