Born in Douglas County Delilah May Koester, daughter of Barney Singleton and Florence Ethel Mankin Singleton, was born on April 14, 1918, in Douglas County, and departed from this life on May 27, 2007, in Christian Healthcare, Nixa, at the age of 89.
Delilah was a resident of Nixa for six years moving from Ava.
On Dec. 27, 1949, Delilah and Harry J. Koester were united in marriage in the state of Nevada. Delilah was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Ethel Singleton, her husband, Harry in 1985, three brothers, Clarence, Robert and W.D. Singleton, three sisters, Wanda June Singleton, Florence Zismer and Beulah Briggs.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Opal Singleton, Ava; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, in the Ava Cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Online condolences may be made to www.clinkingbeardfuneralhome. com.
