Clyde Gilford Ellison, 95

Formerly lived in Ava Clyde Gilford Ellison was born Oct. 27, 1911, in Calumet, Okla., to Robert F. and Lillian G. Ellison, and went home to spend his eternal rest with Jesus on May 29, 2007, in Memphis, Tenn.

Services will be held in Ava, with visitation today (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. in Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, and graveside services Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Goodhope Cemetery west of Ava, with Pastor Kevin Pittman of the Goodhope Church of the Nazarene officiating under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Ava.

He was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Cordova, Tenn., and had been a faithful member of Olivet Church of the Nazarene in El Reno, Okla. for over 30 years before moving to live with his son.

Clyde married Frances Adellia Adams on Nov. 1, 1936, in Okarche, Okla., then later after the death of Frances he married Emma Meade of Okarche, Okla. and resided there until her death.

Clyde formerly lived in Ava where he and Frances raised their children, then later lived in Okarche, Okla., and Geary, Okla., living the past nine years with his son, Ted, in Byhalia, Miss.

He was a retired cattle farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ellison, and later his wife Emma; a son Thomas R. Ellison; his parents, Robert and Lillian Ellison; two brothers, Jake Ellison and Bobby Ellison; and a sister Evelyn McCray.

Survivors are his children, Ted and Carolyn Ellison, of Byhalia, Miss., Joe and Janis Ellison, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Clyde Jr. and Carol Ellison, of Tulsa, Okla., and Ruby June Cox, of Aurora; and one sister, Lucille Gasper, of San Antonio, Texas; as well as 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grand-children; and host of nieces and nephews.
