A resident of Norwood for the past two years Arthur Johnny McCarty, son of Leo McCarty and Wynona Bernadine Linder McCarty, was born on June 11, 1957 in Muscatine, Iowa, and passed from this life with his loving family with him on May 26, 2007, in Norwood, at the age of 49.
Johnny was a resident of Norwood community for the past two years moving from Muscatine, Iowa, where he worked in construction for several years. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. Johnny loved hunting and fishing in his free time. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his great twin nephews, Alex and Aaron.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Leo, and his grandparents, Art and Jerd Linder and John and Rena McCarty.
He is survived by his mother, Wynona “Moni” McCarty Hicks, Norwood; his fiance, Robin Shelton, Norwood; three children, Justice McCarty and Arthur Johnny McCarty Jr., both of Texas, and Jennifer Lynn McCarty, state of Illinois; two sisters, Frances Adams, state of Texas, and Leslie McCarty, state of Iowa; two brothers, Matt McCarty and David McCarty, both of Iowa; two special great-nephews, Alex and Aaron Underwood, Norwood; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Johnny were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with James “Butch” Linder officiating. The family requests memorials as a love offering to the family.
