Violet M. Adams, 86

Violet gave generously of her time Violet M. Adams, 86, passed away Monday May 21, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Leo C. Adams, five brothers and four grandchildren.

She is survived by three sisters and one brother; her children, Fern Brown, Barbara Braley and husband Roger, Howard Adams, and Bonnie Bedell and husband, Gregg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Violet gave generously of her time and talents by being active in the following organizations for 35 to 65 years as a member/officer: Longfellow/Union Hill Neighbor-hood Association – Awarded Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance Anchor Award for 52 years service to Longfellow School Community, Union Hill Development Steering Committee, Missouri Federation of Republican Women – Awarded the first annual “Tribute to Missouri Women”, graduated School of the Ozarks 1939 and participated in Alumni Association for 65 years, receiving the Alumni of the Year Award; Quilters Guild of Kansas City, election board supervising judge; Women’s Missionary Council/ Sunday School Teacher – Central Assembly of God Church; Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader; Preschool/Elementary PTA; Radio and TV Communication Council; Diabetes and Spinal Bifida Associations; and she received the first Marie Reinford Achievement Award.

Violet and Leo operated Adams Auto Electrical Service in Kansas City for 34 years.
