John Henry Grisham, 70

A resident of West Plains for 30 years John Henry Grisham, son of James Joseph “Jim” Grisham and Letha Killion, was born on Sept. 26, 1936, in Elijah, Mo., and departed this life on April 29, 2007, at his home at West Plains at the age of 70 years.

John was a resident of West Plains for 30 years. He was a boilermaker for steel tanks. On March 24, 1956 John and Joy Sanders were united in marriage in West Plains, and to this union three children were born.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, listening to bluegrass music and spending time with his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother, Donnie Ray and one sister Bonnie May.

He is survived by his wife, Joy of the home in West Plains; one son, Rick Grisham and wife, Trish, state of Michigan; two daughters, Kathey Fish, and Patty Ellis and husband, Brent, all of West Plains; one sister, Sue Brewer and husband, Donald, and one sister-in-law, Freda Grisham, all of West Plains; one brother-in-law, William Dale Sanders, Gainesville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at the South Fork Church near West Plains, with the Revs. Bill Jolliff and Mike Morris officiating. John’s body was donated to the School of Medicine, Gift of Body Program, University of Missouri-Columbia.
