A life long resident of Bruner Larry Louis Phillips, the son of Leroy Phillips and Dorothy Fern (Johnson) Phillips, was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Bruner, and departed this life April 24, 2007, at the age of 66.
Larry was a life long resident of the Bruner community. He was a warehouseman with the Associated Wholesale Grocers for 31 years. He was a member of Teamster Union #245. Larry served his country with U.S. Army.
On Aug. 23, 1965 Larry and Dorothy Suggs were united in marriage in Dogwood. Larry and Dorothy were blessed with two children.
Larry enjoyed hunting in Colorado, mushroom hunting, digging ginseng and goldenseal with his son, and being with all his family. He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Bill and Carol Joe.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home, Bruner; two children, Carol Poindexter and husband, Danny, Sparta, and Michael Phillips and wife, Gina, Bruner; his mother, Dorothy Fern Phillips, Bruner; three grandchildren, Bethany and Scott Poindexter, and Megan Phillips, all of Sparta; one great-grandson, Austin Rains; three sisters, Shirley Halcomb, Oldfield, Mary Essary, Springfield, and Vicki Ipock, Seymour; six brothers, Jack Phillips, Sparta, Gene Phillips and John Phillips both of Bruner, Dale Phillips, Sparta, Donald Phillips, Bruner; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Bruner, with the Rev. Carnel “Bally” Johnson officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
