A life long resident of Ava Darrell C. Woolsey, son of Clinton Christopher Woolsey and Cora Senora (Miller) Woolsey, was born September 27, 1947, in Ava, and departed this life on April 22, 2007, in Springfield, at the age of 59.
Darrell was a life long resident of the Ava community where he worked as a mechanic for several years for Barney Barnum. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served his country in the Vietnam War. While in the service he worked on army helicopters. Darrell was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Ava. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time fishing, hunting and playing sports. He also enjoyed playing pool and being with his family.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dewaine.
His survivors include four sisters, Lavon Carter, Mansfield, Nelma Lister, Ava, Gerldean Carter, Mansfield, and Linda Bass, Seymour; two brothers, Don Woolsey, Rogers, Ark., and Larry Woolsey, Ava; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Pastor Tom Maples officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery with full military rites by Douglas County American Legion Post 112 and Ava VFW Post 5993.
