A resident of Ava area most of his life Rexford Linder, the son of Ed Linder and Tryphena (Bunnell) Linder, was born July 13, 1915, in Vera Cruz, Mo., and departed this life April 12, 2007 at the age of 91.
Rex was a resident of the Ava area for most of his life. He was a farmer and was employed as a truck driver for M.F.A. for 17 years. Rex was a Christian. He was converted at the age of 84 and was baptized.
On Feb. 6, 1938, Rex and Edna Clinton were united in marriage in Douglas County. To this union four children were born.
Rex served his country during World War II with U.S. Army in the South Pacific. Rex enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Jane, two sisters and four brothers.
His survivors include his wife, Edna, of the home, Ava; one son, James (Butch) Linder and wife, Joyce, Ava; two daughters, Ruby Smith, Ava, and Delena Proctor, Mtn. Grove; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Robert Grisham officiating. Interment followed in the Brushyknob Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993.
