Born in Rockford, Ill., on April 26, 1921 Jeanette “Jan” Violet Boren, 85, passed away peacefully at HCR Manorcare in Springfield on Friday, April 13. Jan was born in Rockford, Ill., on April 26, 1921.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lillian Johnson, a daughter, Darlene “Susie” Canfield and a granddaughter, Jennifer Canfield Madrid.
Jan was employed with Mt. Bell for over 26 years. She enjoyed baking, painting, sewing, fishing and her family. She was also employed with Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava and lived in the funeral home. Jan would make loaves of homemade bread with rosemary in them and the fragrance filled the funeral home. She shared her homemade bread, butter and jelly. Everyone truly enjoyed Jan and her homey caring feeling.
Jan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Phil Stegwell, of Phoenix, Ariz., and son, Scott Wilson. Grandchildren include Becky Selby, Jeff Stegwell, Kim Lauletta, Clarice Wilson Buss and Carrie Wilson, and several great- and great-great grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Tom Maples officiating. Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery.
