Shelia Gay Green, 49

Attended Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Wasola Shelia Gay Green was born June 4, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan., to Junior Ray McGinnis and Mary Ann (Jones) Searcy, and passed away in her home in Kimberling City on April 7, 2007, at the age of 49.

Shelia served as the head of the Nursery Dept. at Altar of Praise Family Church in Springfield and she worked in the nursing field for many years.

She attended Stony Point South Elementary School, Central High School and Glendale High School. Shelia was a devout Christian and attended Oak Grove General Baptist Church in Wasola, and Altar of Praise Church in Springfield. She became a Christian at the age of 11 at Riverview General Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan. She was a giver in life and was known for her catering abilities and her concern for others. She also loved taking care of children, reading mystery stories, collecting angels, gospel music and nature. Although she could no longer speak, she touched everyone with her love, wisdom, and compassion. She was an outgoing person loving all and loved by all.

Shelia married Rob Hankins on Nov. 15, 1974, in Springfield. One daughter, Crystal Gail, was born of this marriage. On Dec. 26, 1982, Shelia married Barry Green. To this marriage three children were born, Allison, Raeshel and Miranda. Shelia loved Barry with all her heart until her death.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Mae McGinnis, her grandparents, her father, Junior McGinnis, her mother, Mary Searcy and grandson, Junior Dean Wade.

She is survived by her children: Crystal and Kenny Wade, Springfield, Allison Green, Salem, Ore., Raeshel and Sam Parker, Seymour, Miranda and John Slaton, Prospect, Ore.; one granddaughter, Lauren Parker; six sisters and one brother, Sharon and Russ Thompson, Springfield, Sandra Beck, Springfield, Jackie and Marilyn McGinnis, Clairmont, Calif., Selina and Rick Burtchett, Ava, Judy and Mike Jones, Rogersville, and Teresa and Stacy Miller, Ava; stepbrothers and sisters, Mary and A.J. Reynolds, Corpus Christi, Texas, George and Sue Thompson, Atchison, Kan., and Tina and Jose Ramirez, Shawnee Mission, Kan., along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oak Grove General Baptist Church, Wasola, with the Rev. Dwain Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
