Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Brown Branch Gertrude Reese, the daughter of Walter Deckard and Ethel Mae (Whitaker) Deckard, was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Brown Branch, Mo., and departed this life March 28, 2007 at the age of 82.
Gertrude was a resident of Springfield, for several years moving from McClurg. On March 8, 1946, Gertrude and Gerald Lyons were united in marriage in Harrison, Ark. Gertrude and Gerald were blessed with two sons. Mr. Lyons preceded Gertrude in death. On Aug. 6, 2004, she and Albert Reese were united in marriage in Oklahoma. Mr. Reese also preceded Gertrude in death.
Gertrude was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, shopping and visiting with friends. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Gertrude is survived by her two sons, Pat Lyons and Sharon, Theodosia, and Joe and Brenda Lyons, Azle, Texas; five grandchildren, Angela, Melissa, Clarissa, Mike and Mathew; two great-grandchildren, Zachariah and Dylan; two sisters, Nona Mae Walker, Richland, Wash., and Sarah Frances Owens, Mtn. Home, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Rob Dalton officiating. Interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery. On line condolences and guest book signing may be made at www.clinkingbeardfuneralhome. com.
