Of Squires Mary M. Frye, daughter of Russell Brown and Beatrice Bishop Brown, was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in Garden City, Kan., and departed this life on March 11, 2007, in Gainesville, at the age of 84.
Mary was a resident of Gainesville Health Care for the past seven years, moving from Squires, where she lived and worked with her husband, Fonzo, on the farm for many years.
On Nov. 25, 1940, Mary and Fonzo Frye were united in marriage in Ozark County, and to this union three children were born. Mary enjoyed watching stock car races, gardening, cooking, sewing and working on the farm. She devoted her life to her husband, Fonzo, and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fonzo, and one brother, Ralph.
Her survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Sue and Norman Klayman, Pontiac, and Kathy and Monty Valentine, Squires; one son and wife, Bill and Carol Frye, Greenbrier, Ark.; six grandchildren, Alan, Zeke, Brandon, Rocky, Madison and Sarah; four great-grandchildren, Timothy, Alana, Lucy and Cole, one great-great-granddaughter, Reality; one great-great-grandson, Zane Scott; one brother, David Brown and wife, Mary, Mound Valley, Kan.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Wednesday, March 14, at 10 a.m. at Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Revs. Tom Johnson and Casey Pierce officiating. Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Spring Creek Cemetery or the donor’s choice. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
