A resident of the Ava community Murnice K. Hamilton, daughter of Merwin Keith Warner and Mary K. Dendurent Warner, was born on May 16, 1933, in Goodland, Kan., and passed away on Feb. 19, 2007, in her home in Ava, at the age of 73.
Murnice was a resident of the Ava community, living by her son and family since 1991, moving from Enid, Okla. She was employed as the activities director with the Rocky Ridge Manor Nursing Home in Mansfield for several years.
On Oct. 15, 1952, Murnice and John Gerald Hamilton were united in marriage in Whittier, Calif., and to this union two sons were born. Murnice was a member of the Black Oak Flat Church. She has served as a missionary with the American Sunday School Union for several years serving in Oklahoma, Ohio and Pennsylvania. She so enjoyed working with the youth in her church and missionary work, as well as planning resident activities at Rocky Ridge Manor nursing home. Murnice loved Bible School and camp work. Anywhere she was needed, she was there to serve.
Murnice also delighted in traveling and got to visit Japan and England.
She adored and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Warner.
Murnice is survived by her husband, John Gerald, of North Carolina; two sons and their spouses, Robert and Ruth Hamilton, Ava, and Daniel and Ronaele Hamilton, of Japan; seven grandchildren, Sarah Moffatt, Robert, Coy, Elina, David, Peter and Elizabeth Hamilton; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Nathaniel Moffatt, and two more on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, at the Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, at 2 p.m. The family requests memorials to Camp Joy in Guthrie, Okla., in care of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
