Doy Pool Price, 82

Lived his entire life in the Ava community Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, Doy Pool Price went home to be with his parents, brother, other family and his many friends. He was 82.

Doy was born the son of Jessie Dean and Mattie Lou Martin Price in the Wasola area on April 7, 1924 and lived his entire life in that community and in Ava.

On Dec. 20, 1947, Doy and Emogene Frye were married in Yellville, Ark., and to this union two daughters were born. In 1965 they opened their hearts to a foster son. Doy was a farmer at heart, working hard to see that his family had everything he could provide; he also drove a truck and Ava School bus through the years. For enjoyment Doy liked elk hunting in Colorado, deer hunting and fishing here at home, and also going on vacations with his children and grandchildren. Doy was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Ava.

Doy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Emogene; two daughters, Wanda and Johnnie Johnson, and Brenda and Daymon Milligan, all of Ava; a special son John and Kathy Borawski, of Liberty, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jo, Jennie, and James Johnson, and Julie Taylor, all of Ava, and Brendan Price, of Springfield; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and their spouses, Lynn and Norma Price, Holden, Mo., and Lyle and Betty Price, Wasola; three sisters, Virginia Burnett, Ava, Glenda Beach, Holden, and Hettie Cooper, Wasola; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Doy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Audie Price.

Funeral services for Doy Price were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Clinkingbeard Chapel with burial following in the Ava Cemetery, with the Revs. B.J. Evans and Tom Maples officiating. The family requests memorials to Community Hospice (Mtn. Grove) or Ava Senior Citizens in care of the funeral home. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
