Margaret Moran, 83

Mother of twelve children Margaret Moran, 83, of Springfield, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at Manor Care. She was born April 20, 1923, in Whitburn, Scotland, the daughter of Hugh and Mary (Clarkin) Friel.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Senior Group. If asked what she was proudest of, Margaret would have said,”Raising 12 children.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Joseph, son Patrick Sean, and granddaughter Andrea Russell.

Margaret is survived by Edward James and Jill, of Nixa, Margaret and Fred Bullough, Kingwood, Texas, Father Michael Moran, Tenafly, N.J., Francis and Laura, Camden Point, Mo., Joseph and Lyn of Thorofare, N.J., Kevin and Trish, Wasola, Daniel and Cindy, Plano, Texas, James and Leslie, John and Teresa, Karen, Kathleen, and Peter, all of Springfield; a sister, Mamie Francois, and a brother, James Friel, both of Providence, R.I.; 23 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Moran and Monsignor Thomas Reidy celebrants. Burial will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Springfield, followed by the Rosary at 8:30.
