Born Aug. 6, 1920, in Ozark County Velma Watson, the daughter of William Tannehill and Lola (Points) Tannehill, was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Ozark County, and departed this life Jan. 5, 2007, at the age of 86.
Velma was a lifelong resident of the area. On Sept. 10, 1947, Velma and Calvin Watson were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark. She and Calvin were blessed with two children.
Velma was a member of the General Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated a general store for 21 years and she was also a nurses’ aid for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Calvin, three brothers and two sisters.
Her survivors include one son, Carl Watson, and a daughter, Lola Watson, both of Ava; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment followed in the Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia
