Born Sept. 25, 1910, in Douglas County Mary Ellen Boyd, the daughter of Edmond Hodges and Ungena (Summer) Hodges, was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Douglas County, and departed this life Jan. 5, 2007, at the age of 96.
Mary Ellen was a lifelong resident of the Oldfield area. On Aug. 22, 1931, Mary Ellen and Ralph Boyd were united in marriage in Ozark, and to this union five children were born. Mary Ellen was a Christian and attended Green Valley Church.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters, and her husband, Ralph.
She is survived by three sons, Leo Boyd, of the state of Louisiana, Linnie Boyd, Bradleyville, and Leon Boyd, Oldfield; two daughters, Vera Mae Bloomer, Grandview, and Velma Coday, Springfield; 17 grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in the Union Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Fuller officiating. Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
