Gladys was a lifelong resident of the area. Gladys Medlock, the daughter of Lloyd Burge and Mable (Locke) Burge, was born May 20, 1923, in Ouray, Colo., and departed this life Jan. 8, 2007, at the age of 83.
Gladys was a lifelong resident of the area.
On Aug. 26, 1942, Gladys and Tommy Medlock were united in marriage in Springfield. Gladys and Tommy were blessed with four children. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gentryville Community Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, handcrafts, raising flowers and bird watching.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dick and Kenny Burge; and her husband.
She is survived by two daugh-ters, Betty Ross, Drury; Golda Cain and husband, Baruch, Norwood; two sons, David Medlock and wife, Penny, Vanzant, and Ronald Medlock and wife, Charlene, of Houston; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 16 great-grand-children; five step-great-grandchil-dren; two great-great-grandchil-dren; one step-great-great-grand-child; two sisters, Margaret Cooley and husband, Lee, Mtn. Grove, and Lois Stoops, Brea, Calif.; one brother, Melvin Burge, Ft. Smith, Ark.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. J.D. Williams officiating. Inter-ment will follow in the Pleasant Home Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
