Born to George Oren and Leona Marie Barnes, of Ava. Donna Marie Barnes, 55, of Prairie Village, Kan., was born March 30, 1951, to George Oren and Leona Marie Barnes, of Ava.
Donna passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she had devoted 37 years of her life working in the Department of Urology. Donna was the urology residency coordinator for over 30 years. She was featured in the February 2006 issue of Ingram’s Business Magazine as a “Heroes in Healthcare.” Her devotion at the University of Kansas Medical Center was unmatched by her devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Kenny Anderson and wife, Monica, of Mission, Kan., and daughter Lynne Schutt and husband, Mark, of Shawnee, Kan.; four grandchildren, Kourtney Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Sydney Schutt and Mason Schutt; her mother, Leona Barnes of Olathe, Kan.; her siblings and their spouses, Melva Dean Johnson (Bob) of Des Arc, Ark., Gale Barnes (Joy) of Buffalo, Gary Barnes (Carol) of Overland Park, Kan., Deanne Cervantes (Steve) of San Diego, Calif., and many precious nieces, nephews, dear friends, and colleagues; especially, Jana Parrett, who was like a sister to Donna, and an aunt to Kenny and Lynne, for over 30 years.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, David Freund, and father, Oren Barnes.
Services were held Thursday, Jan. 4, at 12 noon at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel; burial was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of your choice.
