During World War II served with the U.S. Army Air Corps James Walter Billingsley, the son of Walter J. Billingsley and Lulu E. Brown Billingsley, was born May 29, 1924, in Drumright, Okla., and departed this life Dec. 8, 2006, at the age of 82.
James was a resident of Spokane, for the past three years moving from Ava. He was a farmer before retirement and was employed with Trenton Foods for several years. James served his country during World War II serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. James was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Iowa.
On July 6, 1962, James and Velma McGuire were united in marriage in Ava.
James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Homer, two sisters, Edith and Winnie.
He is survived by his wife, Velma; six children, David Billingsley, Ohio, Jeffery Billingsley, Forsyth, J.T. Billingsley, Spokane, Mrs. Pam Dyck, Kansas, Donnie Billingsley, Iowa, and Robbin Hutson, of Missouri; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, in the Mt. Tabor Church, with the Rev. John Haskins and Bro. Tony Scott officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Arrangements and services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
