Jacob 'Jake' Ryan Yeates, 17

A junior at Ava High School Jacob Ryan Yeates, son of David Michael Yeates and Cheri Jean (Jackson) Bowden, was born Sept. 17, 1989, in Phoenix, Ariz., and died Nov. 25, 2006, at the age of 17.

Jake had lived in the Ava area since June of this year after moving from Dewey, Ariz. He was a junior at Ava High School.

Jake enjoyed cars, hunting, fishing, and all sports. Jake loved Jesus and wanted his friends to share his love. He had a huge heart for everyone around him and was always there to lend a helping hand. He always greeted you with his big smile and a hug or a strong hand. Jake was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley, Ariz., and was baptized on his birthday Sept. 17, 1995.

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hugh Yeates.

Survivors include his parents David Michael Yeates, Phoenix, Ariz., Cheri and Steven Bowden, Ava; one sister, Stephanie Millsap, Chino Valley, Ariz.; two brothers, Lee Bowden and Caleb Yeates, both of Ava; maternal grandparents, Willis and Jean Jackson, Tucson, Ariz.; paternal grandparents, Betty and Joe Morris, Sun Lakes, Ariz.; step-grandmother, Frieda Bowden, Pigott, Ark.; paternal great-grandmother, Ruby Dover, Cartersville, Ga.; nieces, a nephew-on-the-way, uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) in the First General Baptist Church, Ava, with the Revs. Neal Crum and Mark Reeder officiating. Interment will be in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. The family requests memorials to the Jake Yeates Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
