A resident of Ava since 1975 Dorothy Irene LeVelle, the daughter of Frank LeVelle and Mary Irene (Haymaker) LeVelle, was born May 16, 1918, in Iowa, and departed this life Nov. 26, 2006 at the age of 88.
Dorothy was a resident of Ava since 1975, moving to Ava from Florida.
Dorothy operated a general store in Florida for several years and was employed with Collins Electric before retirement. Dorothy was a member of the Ava Church of Christ. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles and baking cookies for all her family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Marvin and Marion, one sister, Lola McKinley.
She is survived by two brothers, W.J. “Bill” LeVelle and wife, Judy, Walnut Shade, and Leonard LeVelle, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Mary June Miller and husband, Ben, Vinton, Iowa, and Della Walthart, Independence, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Brad Smith officiating. Interment will be Friday, Dec. 1, in Cox Cemetery near Vinton, Iowa.
