David Leon Evans, 55

Born on April 25,1951, in Gainesville David Leon Evans, son of the late Orville and Norma (Hathcock) Evans, was born on April 25,1951, in Gainesville, and departed this life on Nov. 23, 2006, at his home in Mtn. Grove. He was 55 years of age.

Dave was raised in the Tecumseh community and attended Dawt School. Dave worked at Killians Gas Station in West Plains for several years. He later moved to Mtn. Grove and went to work for Norman Allen at the OK Tire Store in 1970.

He was united in marriage to Delores Harris on August 30, 1975. Three children were born to this union. In 1987, Dave opened Northside Tire and Wheel in Mtn. Grove, where he owned and operated his business until his passing. He made many friends through his business and never seemed to meet a stranger. Dave enjoyed bluegrass music and he loved going to bluegrass festivals. He enjoyed playing his mandolin, hunting, fishing, going to auctions collecting pocket knives, and visiting with his many family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by one brother, Donnie; one brother-in-law, Mac Sloan; and by one nephew, Scottie Sloan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delores, of their home; two sons, Jason Evans and Josh Evans, both of Mtn. Grove; one daughter, Leasa Evans, of Mtn. Grove; four brothers, Bob Evans and his wife, Wanda, of Mtn. Home, Ark., Jim Evans and his wife, Regina, of Ava, Junior Evans, of Tecumseh, and Larry Evans and his wife, Rhonda, of Mtn. Home, Ark.; three sisters, Linda McCrea and her husband, Junior, of Houston, Annie Sloan, of Mtn. Grove, and Fern Robertson and her husband, Francis, of Mtn. Grove; several nephews and nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Funeral services for Dave Evans were held Monday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel, Mtn. Grove, with the Rev. Reg Kelly officiating. Burial was in the Clear Springs Cemetery in Ozark County under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
