Life long resident of the Ava area Cecil Walker was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Ava, the son of Martin Walker and Dorothy (Potter) Walker, and departed this life Nov. 24, 2006 at the age of 70.
Cecil was a life long resident of the Ava area. On March 26, 1960 Cecil and Arlene Turner were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union three children were born. Cecil attended Girdner Church. Cecil was a Christian and was baptized. Cecil enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his family.
Cecil was preceded in death by his father, one son, Billy John Walker in 1999, a granddaughter, Kayla Arlene Walker, one brother, Lester Walker, one sister, Agnes Pettybone, a half sister, Okima and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, of the home; his mother, Dorothy McIntosh, of Arkansas; one daughter, Carla Walker Kaiser, and one son, Damon Walker, both of Squires; five grandchildren, Chad Armel, Brandon Walker, Levi Thornsberry, Tyler and Sarah Walker; four great-grandchildren, Gavyn Cecil, Caitlin, Katrina and Stevie; two brothers, Lee Walker and Marvin Walker, both of Mansfield; special friends, Gerald and Cindy Ingram; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in the Murray Church, Squires, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Murray Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
