Born to William Moore and Dora McBride Moore in Girdner Velma L. Eddings, 80, of Gardner, Kan., passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the First Baptist Church, Gardner, Kan. Burial followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan. Visitation began at 10 a.m. at the church before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or Kansas City Hospice House.
Velma was born Sept. 16, 1926, to William Harvey Moore and Dora Ethel McBride Moore in Girdner, Mo. She grew up in Ava, and met and married Earl J. Eddings there in 1941. They lived in Kansas City, Kan. She moved to Gardner, Kan. in 1985 where she was active in her church and White Cross. She loved to garden.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl, in 1976, a son, Jerry Lee Eddings, and a sister, Fern Kruse.
She is survived by sons, William “Bill” W. Eddings and wife Barbara, of Olathe, Kan., Larry D. Eddings and wife, Rozanna, of Deltona, Fla., Michael L. Eddings and wife, Toni, of Fort Scott, Kan.; sisters, Gustava Porter, of Seymour, and Pauline Brooke, of Ava; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Kan.
