Born May 22, 1913 in Smallett Thelma L. Frye, the daughter of Jess E. Johnson and Lila (Wilson) Johnson, was born May 22, 1913 in Smallett, Mo., and went home to be with Lord on Nov. 18, 2006, at the age of 93.
Thelma was a resident of Sparta, for the past two months, moving from Ava. She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Rock Church. On July 31, 1932 Thelma and John Ross Frye were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union eight children were born.
Thelma loved embroidery, making quilts, going to Faith Rock Church and spending time with her family.
Thelma was preceded in death her husband, John, her parents, a son, Donald, twins, Joseph and Joetta Frye, three grandchildren, Duane Clark, Kelley Frye, Sharon (Clark) Stephens, and 13 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by five children, Paul Frye, Bruner, Shirley Clark, Sparta, John Robert Frye, Bruner, LeRoy Frye, Ava, and Dale Frye, Crown Point, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Leoma Mackey, Ava; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Tom Johnson and Donnie Pruiett officiating. Interment followed in the Fannon Cemetery.
