A resident of the Ava community since 1967 Valma Agnes Huff, the daughter of Henry N. Davis and Ninnie Frazier Huff, was born on Jan. 2, 1914, in Bakersfield, Mo., and departed this life on Nov. 3, 2006 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 92.
Valma was a resident of the Ava community since 1967, moving from California. She worked in a factory in California that made filters. On July 27, 1936, Valma and Marvin Huff were united in marriage in Yuma, Ariz. Marvin and Valma celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage last July. Valma was a member of Union Grove General Baptist Church. She accepted Christ at an early age and had a very strong Christian faith and always had a smile for everybody. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. Valma raised beautiful African violets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Reta Davis, Gertie Hitchcock and Lola Hilton, and two brothers, Clarendon and Loren Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Ava; two sisters, Veva Teal, Carter Lake, Iowa, and Evelyn Ellison, Weiser, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment followed in the Goodhope Cemetery.
