Chester G. Chambers, 71

Born March 12, 1935 in Dora, Mo. Graveside services for Chester Glane Chambers, 71, Willow Springs, were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Denlow Cemetery, near Mountain Grove, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.

Mr. Chambers died at 7:07 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 in Willow Care Nursing Center. He was born March 12, 1935 in Dora, Mo., to William C. “Bill” and Lois Tillman Chambers. He received his education in the schools of Dora and on June 1, 1960, was married at Norwood to June Brixey.

Mr. Chambers lived in the Dora community until 1983 when the family moved to Willow Springs. He had been a dairy farmer for many years and hauled milk for Kraft Foods of Ava, Mid-Am of Cabool, and Worrell Transport of Mountain Grove.

Mr. Chambers drove a bus for the Willow Springs School District for six years and worked summers at Silver Dollar City and Shepherd Of the Hills.

He was a lifetime member of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association having been a qualified judge of the association. Mr. Chambers was of the Baptist faith with his membership in the Central Calvary Baptist Church, West Plains. He will be remembered for his ministry of gospel singing; he was an avid bass singer. Mr. Chambers enjoyed meeting people and never met a stranger.

Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, June Chambers, of the family home; three children, Calvin Chambers and wife, Ramona, Dora, Debra Smith and husband, Vince, Memphis, Tenn., and Douglas Chambers and wife, Susan Wheaton, Fayette, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Christina Collins, Gabriel, Ashley, and Shalee Chambers, Tim, Bryan and Daniel Smith and Tessa and Trace Chambers; one brother, Dallas Chambers and wife, Lorene, Ava; one sister, Ella Russell, West Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, one sister, Lozene Burnett, one brother-in-law, Gene Russell, one niece and one nephew preceded him in death.
