Adeline F. Curnutt Duckworth was born in Thornfield Adeline F. Curnutt Duckworth was born on Nov. 28, 1922 in Thornfield, the daughter of Arthur Albert Humbyrd and Ada A. (Burden) Humbyrd. Adeline peacefully passed away after an extensive illness on Oct. 30, 2006 at Primrose Healthcare Center in Springfield.
Adeline, a child of God, practiced her Baptist faith since early adulthood. She lived most of her life in Missouri and the state of Washington. Adeline was a skilled beautician of 28 years.
On July 2, 194l Adeline and Fred Curnutt were united in marriage in Ava. Fred and Adeline were blessed with two children, Bill and Betty.
Preceding Adeline in death were her parents, Arthur and Ada Humbyrd; four brothers; five sisters; and her first husband and father of their children, Fred Curnutt.
A loving wife and mother, Adeline is survived by her second husband of 23 years, Herman Duckworth; children, Bill and his wife, Audrey Curnutt, Sioux Falls, S.D., and daughter, Betty Curnutt, Springfield.
Also surviving are grandchildren Cynthia LaDue, David Curnutt and Nathan Hamilton; great-grandson Michael Dowdy; and a sister, Mary Norton and husband, Gene, Eufalla, Okla. Adeline also leaves five stepchildren and their families, LeRoy Duckworth and wife, Pam, Lloyd Duckworth and wife, Jean, Sharon Morton and husband, Steve, Judy McClure and husband, Les, and Carol Blankenship, all from the state of Washington; 12 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will celebrate the life of this loving and courageous woman today (Nov. 2) in Ava. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. in the Ava Cemetery with the Rev. Arnold Day officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
