Passed away at Fulton Nursing and Rehab Joyce Lavonne Thurman, 77, of Fulton, passed away at Fulton Nursing and Rehab on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006. She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Quimby, Iowa, the daughter of the late Edwin and Gladys Hartliep. On Oct. 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gordon Thurman who survives at the home.
In addition to her husband, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Merrill Thurman and his wife, Rita, of Fulton; one brother, Thomas Hartliep, of the state of Texas; one sister, Billie Martin, Cherokee, Iowa; two grandchildren, Victoria Thurman-Plybon and her husband, Joseph, of Fulton, and Lee Thurman and his wife, Melissa, of Hillsboro; one great-grandchild, Hayden Thurman; several other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Lee Edgar Thurman, two sisters, Phyllis Corrington and Lois Bjorkgeren, and two brothers, Merrill Hartliep and Neil Hartliep.
Joyce worked as a business professional in finance and insurance. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing with her grandchildren.
There will be a closed family service. Services are under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton Nursing and Rehab.
