July 2006 she moved to Ava Alberta Lee O’Dell was the daughter of James A. and Ruth Hazel (Kelley) Lasater, born on Nov. 21, 1924, in Lockwood. She died at 12:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Ashli O’Dell and her brother and his wife, Dale and Mary Lasater. She was 81.
Alberta spent all of her life in the Lockwood and Golden City area until July 2006 when she moved to Ava. She married Glenn Dalton O’Dell in Lockwood, on June 3, 1947. They had four children, Glenn, Randy, Renee and Greg.
Alberta was originally a member of the Mt. Nebo Church where she was saved and baptized in Sons Creek in the middle of winter. She was a Sunday school teacher for years. Alberta was a member of the Reeds Baptist Church in Reeds, Mo., at the time of her death.
She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
Alberta is survived by her husband, Glenn Dalton O’Dell, Ava; her three sons and their wives, Glenn and Mary O’Dell, Williamston, S.C., Randy and Becky O’Dell, Ava, and Greg and Lana O’Dell, Nevada, Mo; her daughter and husband, Renee and Brad Burton, Ash Grove; her brothers and wives, Leslie and Betty Lasater, California, and Jerry and Kelly Lasater, Springfield; 12 grandchildren, Tim and Trisha O’Dell, Scott O’Dell, LeAnn Ray, Toni Buckwalter, Derek O’Dell, Bryan and Alicia Burton, Amanda and Andy Young, and Zack and Emily Ricketts; eight great-grandchildren, Larisa, Brock and Jacob Luben, Katy Beth O’Dell, Curtis Young, Kaitlyn Buckwalter, Taylor and Trevor Motyl; many nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Reeds Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Needham officiating. Interment was in Collins Cemetery northeast of Lockwood, under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home of Golden City.
