Formerly of Ava Lynne Morgan DeVries, 68, formerly of Ava, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Port Neches, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11 at Springfield National Cemetery, Springfield, with the Rev. Dale Adams officiating.
Mrs. DeVries was a native of Chicago, Ill., and lived in the Ava area for 10 years before moving to the Port Neches and Nederland area for 20 years. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Fellowship Baptist church in Nederland.
Mrs. Devries is survived by three daughters, Cheri Banks and husband, Lenny, of Channelview, Texas, Cindy Nichols and husband, Terry, of Port Neches, Texas, and Colleen Berry and husband, Tim, of Houston, Texas; two sons, John DeVries III, of Nederland, Texas, and Scott Devries and wife, Stacie, of Nederland, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Froehle, of Chicago, Ill.; brother-in-law, Art DeVries and wife, Sue, of Oil City, La.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John DeVries.
